There is no one-size-fits-all solution to weight loss. The whole concept of calories-in-vs.-calorie-out is outdated.
It’s best to lose weight at one’s own pace while listening to your body giving a chance to your metabolic rate and hunger hormones to adapt to the new dynamics.
Find ways to keep that metabolic rate high.
Understanding and accepting that your body will try to get you to go back to your previous weight is in fact helpful in realising that maintaining a steady weight is not an easy journey and it is just that- a journey. So buckle up and might as well enjoy the ride! Have fun cooking healthy food, taking up reasonable and appropriate challenges, moving your body in ways you enjoy and take care of other lifestyle factors that not only help maintain or reduce weight, but also positively affect overall health.
Most importantly, remember that it was never about the weight itself anyway! Weight is just a number on a scale; why the hell should we focus our time and energy on that? It is about living a holistically healthy life. It’s about rocking that bikini in summer at whatever weight you are, it is about beating your kids at nerf wars, about going for rejuvenating hikes and bike rides. It’s about enjoying your grandchildren, and spending less time in hospitals in old age and more time doing what you love. It’s about kicking you comforter off with the first alarm bell in the morning ready to kick the hell out of your day, it’s about naturally glowing skin and so much more…
